Rail Connections on Mykonos Island

Unlike major mainland airports in Greece, Mykonos International Airport (JMK) is located on an island where no railway infrastructure exists. Therefore, there are no trains, no suburban railway (Proastiakos), no metro lines, and no train stations serving Mykonos Airport or the island in general.

  • Other mainland destinations

Alternative Transportation Options on Mykonos

Since trains are not available, all transportation on the island relies on:

  • KTEL public buses
  • Taxis
  • Private airport transfers
  • Car rentals, scooters, and ATVs

For airport transfers specifically, travelers usually choose between taxis, private transfers, or car rentals, as bus schedules can be inconsistent during peak season.

Important Tips for Travelers Expecting Train Connections

  • There are no trains on Mykonos — plan ferry or flight connections instead.
  • If you need rail travel, route your journey via Athens (Piraeus Port or ATH Airport).
  • Book ferry tickets in advance during summer, as availability is limited.
